 Social media is very useful in many ways such as getting information across to many or a few others and quickly. It adds a lot of convenience to our lives. In fact, social media is so popular and used so much that it is #1 on the web beating porn.

 

There are pros and cons that come with social media, just like anything else. It has impacted many individuals either as a benefit or disadvantage, or maybe both.

Social media's pros consists of meeting new friends, communicating online with distant friends or family, or an alternative to communicating if you don't own a cell phone. For example, Skype is used for video chatting and instant messaging which benefits many people in the world. Surveys can be helpful in social media because opinions can be collected quicker since there will likely be many viewers. Also, you have a chance to make yourself look good out there. For example, posting inspirational quotes along with advice maybe to help others with their problems.

 

 Also, keep in mind there are cons such as waste of time if you're addicted like me meaning I'm on social media a lot and it eats away my time. There can be predators who target victims. Cyberbullying of students may occur which will hurt their feelings and can even be so extreme that it leads to suicide. Since social media isn't communicating in person it can impact communicating skills and make them worse. Inappropriate pictures could be posted by others, unfortunately. And, along with that there's more possibilities like stalkers, hackers, and/ or hackers creating a profile to pose as someone they're really not. For example, predators will pretend to be someone they're really not and then meet up with the person they're communicating with and kidnap or kill them. It's a scary world out there at times and you have to keep your guard up by avoiding taking to complete strangers online.
